QuaMing introduces compute chip QMF1: a full turnkey path for AI NAS

2026-09-10 · Company

QMF1 is for an AI NAS. Compute and storage stay on that device.

The published piece describes 2026 as the year on-device AI moved out of the cloud, and cites an IDC view that local storage demand could grow fifty times from 2026 to 2030. QuaMing's answer in that piece is two compute chips, QMF1 and QMA1, with the QuaMM operating system.

QuaMM is described there as an agent operating system already in volume on more than a million devices, at the same layer as Android and HarmonyOS, covering cameras, locks, frames, glasses, NAS, and robots. The article also names a DuoEdge split: one chip reasons, one chip acts.

QMF1 is the vision and multi-camera controller: an 8-core A-series processor at 1.7 GHz, a RISC-V coprocessor at 1.2 GHz, 20 TOPS INT8, and hardware decode of 16 channels of 1080p. It has SATA and PCIe, so storage and compute can sit on one chip. QMA1 is the higher compute part: 40 TOPS INT8 and 32 channels of 1080p, over PCIe, for a small server or an edge box.

QMF1 is INT8 20 TOPS. QMA1 is INT8 40 TOPS.
